Everton now have one final opportunity to take stock before they return to action ahead of the busy festive schedule.

It has been far from an encouraging start to the campaign for Sean Dyche’s men who are only sitting three points above the relegation zone.

Although a point on the weekend was not a disaster, but three points would have been ideal given their upcoming run of fixtures.

The Friedkin Group are close to completing their Everton takeover and look set to be in through the doors before the end of the year.

Everton fans will be well aware that would mean their proposed new owners would hold the keys to Goodison Park ahead of the January transfer window.

One player who Everton are showing interest in is Tariq Lamptey who has now made a big decision on where his future may potentially lie.

West Ham keen on Everton target Tariq Lamptey

With Everton showing an interest in Lamptey ahead of the January window, the Ghanaian could become one of The Friedkin Group’s first signings at Everton.

However, there may be one issue as, according to Caught Offside, Everton are not alone in their interest in Lamptey.

It is believed West Ham United are one of the Premier League clubs who could offer Lamptey with a new home over the coming months.

It is not just the Hammers with Brentford and Nottingham Forest also adding the right-back to their transfer radar.

With just a matter of months remaining on his contract, it is said Lamptey has now come to the decision he does not want to extend his deal on the south coast.

Everton need defensive upgrades in January

Everton fans had demanded for James Tarkowski to be dropped after his recent displays for the Toffees.

Although the Everton’s defensive record has not bee the worst this season, there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Ashley Young is holding down the fort currently at right-back with Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson both returning from injury issues.

Ian Wright hailed Lamptey as ‘fantastic’ previously but the right-back has struggled to really make himself a regular in the Brighton starting XI.

But keeping fit has proven to be a major concern for Lamptey and the Everton right-backs currently at the club have already caused plenty of headaches with just that.
