Everton are expected to be active in the Janaury transfer window.
Everton are the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League having blanked in 11 games, four of which have come in their last five.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has netted just twice in the league whilst Sean Dyche clearly doesn’t fancy Beto – who has started just once.
Armando Broja has only just returned from an achillies injury, so it’s a lot to ask for him to be the main man who keeps Everton up.
So for that reason, it’s imperative the club dip into the market this month and sign a prolific number nine to support Dyche.
With that said, it seems they may have just made contact to sign a really exciting striker on the continent.

Everton may have made contact to sign Jonathan David
Everton are clearly looking to sign a striker this month and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson has been linked to Goodison Park.
Lille striker Jonathan David is also thought to be of interest to Everton and now a fresh update on his situation has just emerged.
Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to reveal that four Premier League clubs have made contact to sign him.
There’s no mention of Everton as Sheth has not named any of the clubs, but given their previous interest and need for a centre-forward, they could well be one of the potential suitors who have approached David’s camp.
The Canada international is out of contract in the summer and can agree a deal with other clubs to join in the summer.
That won’t suit Everton now, though. They need reinforcements immediately and should try to sign David at a cut-price deal this winter.
David stats vs Dominic Calvert-Lewin
If Everton were to sign David, he’d be coming in to replace the out-of-form Calvert-Lewin. So let’s see how their statistics compare.
| Stats per 90 | Jonathan David | Dominic Calvert-Lewin |
| Non-penalty goals | 0.61 | 0.15 |
| Pass completion (%) | 82.4 | 59.7 |
| Progressive passes | 2.20 | 1.05 |
| Progressive passes received | 6.11 | 5.56 |
Quite evidently, David, who has been labelled ‘one of the best strikers in the world’ per Tony Marinaro, would be a huge upgrade on Calvert-Lewin and in the most important statistic of all, he trumps him for goals scored.
The 24-year-old has already netted 17 times this season and looks well-placed to win the Golden Boot in Ligue 1.
