Everton have a long list of striking targets as David Moyes is keen to recruit another number nine this winter.
But, with just nine days left, Everton are still assessing the market for the right opportunity, which is proving difficult.
The Toffees did submit a bid for Youssef En-Nesyri, with the deal comprising an initial loan with a £17m option to buy at the end of the season.

That potential transfer went quite as it looked as though Italian giants Juventus were on the verge of signing En-Nesyri.
But, there’s just been a major development on that front, and it may have moved Everton a step closer to landing his signature.

Everton’s bid to sign En-Nesyri may be back on as his proposed transfer to Juventus is now off, according to their Director of Football Giorgi Chiellini.
“En Nesyri has doubts over deal formula (loan) and now after assessing this case we consider the negotiations over,” Chiellini explained.
“We will NOT sign En Nesyri on permanent deal.”
That put Everton right back in the mix, although they will now be well aware that any forthcoming transfer will have to be a permanent.
Fenerbahce were in talks to sign Beto, so they’re clearly planning for life without En-Nesyri, and perhaps a swap deal could once open up between the two clubs.

En-Nesyri would be a really smart addition as he’d be a great mentor for Barry to learn from.
The 28-year-old has plied his trade in multiple European competitions and has scored over a century of goals across his career.

If Everton can strike an agreement with Fenerbahce for under £20m, that’d be a shrewd bit of business this month.
Anything more than that and the Toffees will likely move on to other targets.
