Tim Howard played with some exceptional strikers at Everton.

The American watched Romelu Lukaku torment opponents at Goodison Park, also seeing the likes of Andy Johnson and Louis Saha shine for Everton across his 414 appearances with the Toffees.

Nowadays, Howard is a huge admirer of Ricardo Pepi – but the United States international unfortunately looks to be heading for Fulham despite interest from David Moyes.

Everton are interested in PSV striker Ricardo Pepi, would he replace Thierno Barry straight away? 👀

Everton are admirers of Pepi as The Friedkin Group consider signing a new striker this month, but Fulham are nearing an agreement with PSV Eindhoven after making a £28m bid.

It is a development which is sure to upset Howard, who has now spoken about what the 23-year-old could do at Craven Cottage.

The 46-year-old told Unfiltered Soccer: “I think Ricardo Pepi – when he’s healthy – has shown at PSV that he can score goals. He can do the business, whether that be as a substitute or a starter.

“I think he’s a starting player. I would like to see an American get a run in the Premier League. I think Fulham’s a really good club for him, you know, for an out-and-out number nine.”

Pepi can boast 11 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions for PSV Eindhoven so far this season, along with two assists.

A new right-back seems likelier to arrive at Everton than a striker

As Thierno Barry shines with four goals in his last five Premier League outings, it feels like Everton have shifted the focus onto a right-back.

Just as recently as Tuesday night, Everton restarted talks with Genoa over a deal for Brooke Norton-Cuffy, which strongly suggests a new right-back is at the forefront of recruitment plans at this moment in time.

What should be Everton’s top priority before the deadline on Monday? 😬

Beto may still depart – which would potentially open the door to a new striker if an exit does materialise.

For now, however, we only expect a new right-back to arrive and challenge Nathan Patterson before the transfer window slams shut on February 2nd.
