The January transfer window is notoriously difficult for clubs to deal in and that is certainly proving to be the case for Everton.

Both David Moyes and the fans would have hoped for more this month as the clock quickly ticks by ahead of Monday’s deadline.

Everton have experienced some squad issues over the first half of the season, which has affected the form over recent weeks.

Although Moyes said The Friedkin Group will back Everton financially in the market, it has become clear that the Blues are struggling to land their targets.

What should be Everton’s top priority before the deadline on Monday? 😬

A number of positions could really need upgrading this month, but just days remain before the window shuts until the summer.

Fabrizio Romano has now issued an update from Merseyside that may well indicate where the club are directing most of their efforts in the final days.

Fabrizio Romano issues late Everton January transfer update

On Tuesday evening, Romano claimed that Everton are considering another move for Brooke Norton-Cuffy.

It is believed the Blues have made another phone call to enquire about the right-back ahead of Monday’s deadline.

Everton are keen on signing Brooke Norton-Cuffy… are there other positions more important than right-back this transfer window?

Right-back was one of the areas that Everton failed to add to over the summer and have been left extremely short at.

Nathan Patterson has been tipped for an Everton exit this month, but the club must find a replacement before sanctioning his departure.

With Jake O’Brien being played out of position again this season at the full-back spot, it is clearly an area crying out for a natural replacement.

For weeks, Everton have been linked with a new right-back addition as it becomes clear where the focus may be placed in these final days.

Everton have failed in the January transfer window

There has undoubtedly been a lack of business done across the board in the Premier League this month.

However, it cannot help but be felt that Everton have missed out on a big opportunity to really improve their squad for the second half of the season.

Perhaps not being threatened with relegation this year has prevented the Blues from dipping into the market, with the summer a more attractive opportunity.

Moyes has demanded more from his full-backs since his return to Merseyside, but an attack-minded option at right-back is needed.

The final days of the window could offer Everton exactly that as they eye a deal for Norton-Cuffy.
