2025 will be a year of major changes at Everton Football Club – and The Friedkin Group are now eyeing another significant appointment.

TFG completed their takeover of the Toffees before Christmas, and it has been a positive start so far.

The Friedkin Group have been measured in their approach, and have actually not made too many major calls just yet.

They, of course, were forced into one very big one, with Sean Dyche telling The Friedkin Group he’d take Everton as far as he could.

Dyche and Everton parted ways, with TFG appointing Moyes as his successor.

Everton are expected to appoint Angus Kinnear as their new CEO later this year, and there will also be a new director football, with Kevin Thelwell set to leave Everton.

Now, it’s been claimed TFG could soon be making another big appointment.

The Friedkin Group want football ‘overlord’ to run Everton and Roma

It has been reported by journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon that The Friedkin Group are now seeking to hire someone who will act as a ‘football overlord’ to run both Everton and Roma.

TFG, of course, also own the Italian giants.

Dan Friedkin helped push through a takeover of them in 2020.

According to Nixon, TFG are now actively looking for a football supremo who will oversee both clubs and become an ‘overlord for their whole organisation’.

It is stated that ‘calls have been made’ by a leading agency to several top figures, as they try to gauge interest.

Exciting times for Everton fans

No names are offered in the report and it’s unclear what the official title of this particular role will be at the moment.

But these are definitely exciting times for Everton fans, as TFG look to make important hires that will help the club get back to where it needs to be.

In the coming months, TFG will appoint a new CEO, director of football and then someone to oversee both Everton and Roma in what would be a pretty powerful position.

Seemingly, TFG will give Everton and Roma equal focus. Back in September, months before the takeover was completed, football finance expert Kieran Maguire said on Sky Sports: “I don’t think there’s any issue in terms of prioritising investment in funding with Everton as opposed to AS Roma. They are both big clubs in their own right.

“They’re also the type of clubs who can generate a return on the investment. So I’m sure therefore I’m sure The Friedkin Group will able to provide funding for both.
