Everton do remain hopeful of signing Tyrique George permanently from Chelsea.

The Toffees hold a buy clause in their loan deal for George, but it is not proving as straightforward as simply pulling the trigger.

David Moyes barely played George since bringing him to Everton in the January transfer window.

Despite this, the Everton manager would like to keep George on Merseyside, but the club want their option to buy on more favourable terms.

Everton want more favourable Tyrique George terms

If the Blues are to keep the winger, Everton want better terms to sign George, despite only agreeing to his loan deal back in January.

This is similar to the club’s response to their option to buy Jack Grealish from Manchester City.

However, it has also been suggested that Xabi Alonso is keen to work with George ahead of his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

By failing to pull the trigger on George’s buy option, Everton will be putting the power back into Chelsea’s hands.

If Everton want to bring in George, then they know exactly what it will take to bring him back to Merseyside.

The worry is Everton may not have much to spend this summer amid the changing financial landscape, through the introduction of SCR.

It has been suggested that Everton may only have £50m net to spend this summer.

Therefore, trying to renegotiate for George would make sense, but it leaves the Blues in a vulnerable position as it takes their power away from the deal.

Given Moyes only handed George a mere 210 minutes of football in the second half of the season, Everton may well be forced to walk away from a deal if Chelsea fail to reach a compromise.
