Everton have not even put a dent into their list of needs this summer in the transfer market.

David Moyes is delighted to have signed Thierno Barry, but the 62-year-old is also aware of the work still to be done.

The Toffees fly out to the United States later this month for the Summer Series, and Moyes will want to see a number of players added before then.

“I’m hoping to make more additions in the coming weeks,” Moyes said in Barry’s announcement statement.

Everton’s recruitment team – led by Angus Kinnear – will be hard at work analysing potential opportunities in the market.

Clearly, Everton are going to need to be opportunistic this summer and make the most of the loan and free agent market.

With new additions needed all across the squad, Everton have now turned their attention to landing a new full-back for Moyes.

Everton plotting move for right-back

Moyes has demanded new full-backs since returning to Everton back in January.

It is an area where the Toffees lack quality in depth, with Vitaliy Mykolenko the club’s only senior left-back.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Everton are now rivalling Sporting CP to the signing of Panathinaikos right-back Georgios Vagiannidis.

Sporting’s director was even in London on Monday to hold talks with the player’s agents.

Both Sporting and Everton are also going to face competition from Italy with one Serie A side said to be very interested.

It is believed the Greek side are looking for an offer in the region of €15m (£13m) to allow Vagiannidis to depart this summer.

Everton have extended Seamus Coleman’s contract, but the Ireland international’s role could become more significant away from the pitch this season.

With Jake O’Brien promised an eventual return to centre-back, it is clear Everton need to bring in a new right-back this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on Vagiannidis

Everton are not the only side in the Premier League looking to bolster their options at right-back.

According to Pete O’Rourke, Tottenham Hotspur have also shown an interest in signing Vagiannidis this summer as a backup to Pedro Porro.

The Toffees have faced Premier League competition for signings all summer long, after Chelsea sealed Everton target Liam Delap early on in the window.

That is a move for Delap which could already be causing him regret after Joao Pedro has landed in style.

It will be interesting to see whether the prospect of potential regular football could persuade someone like Vagiannidis to Merseyside.
