Tottenham Hotspur have joined Everton in their pursuit of John Stones.

Sunday provided Everton with the opportunity to relegate Tottenham, with West Ham doing their job at the London Stadium.

David Moyes’ side instead continued their dreadful record since the international break and handed Spurs their easiest win of the season.

Tottenham set to rival Everton for John Stones

Everton hold an interest in Stones over a potential reunion this summer amid his departure from Manchester City.

There is competition there for Stones, though, and Everton’s failure to sink Spurs on Sunday could now affect their hopes of signing the defender.

Miguel Delaney has published a report for The Independent, which has highlighted Tottenham’s interest in Stones.

The lure of London has already been seen as Everton will now likely miss out on Marcos Senesi, who will join Tottenham following their Premier League survival.

Sunday marked a real opportunity for Everton to sink one of the Big Six, but the Lilywhites remained alive and kicking as they look to bounce back with some big additions.

Jeff Stelling has warned Everton against signing Stones after what he saw from the Man City defender on the final day of the season.

At 31 years of age, Stones has certainly already enjoyed his best years in the Premier League, with injuries proving a real issue.

The England international has only played 439 minutes of Premier League football this season.

Although potentially losing out on Stones to Spurs could be seen as a real blow, perhaps it would be a blessing in disguise.
