One Everton player now finds himself struggling to make an impression on David Moyes just months after signing for the Toffees.
Everton’s summer window was always going to be a busy one given the number of players who were departing the club.
Having signed nine players over the course of the summer, Moyes was pleased with Everton’s business under the Friedkins.
It was the first summer window for the new owners on Merseyside since their takeover last December.
There has already been a great deal of success from some of the signings, with Jack Grealish winning Player of the Month for August.
However, there is one player who must find himself asking what has gone so wrong for Moyes not to be selecting him.

Carlos Alcaraz must be baffled by his Everton situation
After a promising loan stint, Moyes was keen to permanently sign Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo in the summer.
Since joining permanently, the Argentine has struggled to find minutes under the 62-year-old manager who wanted to sign him so badly.
Alcaraz really impressed Everton fans last season during his short-term loan spell on Merseyside.
The 22-year-old returned five goal involvements in the second half of the Premier League campaign as the Toffees turned their dismal form around.
| Carlos Alcaraz (All comps) | 2024/25 | 2025/26 |
| Appearances | 16 | 9 |
| Starts | 7 | 4 |
| Minutes | 796 | 360 |
| Goals | 2 | 1 |
| Assists | 3 | 0 |
Alcaraz was able to get the best out of Beto, with the striker also keen to see Everton sign the midfielder permanently.
But it has been a hugely underwhelming start to the 2025/26 campaign for Alcaraz.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s Everton performances have not impressed recently, but the Argentine just cannot work his way into the starting XI.

Carabao Cup exit has hindered Alcaraz’s Everton game time
Half of Alcaraz’s starts have come in the Carabao Cup, which Everton were eliminated from back in September.
Since the opening day of the season, Alcaraz has only started one game in the Premier League and that came as a result of Grealish’s absence against his former side.
Everton News columnist Alan Myers has suggested Alcaraz could solve Everton’s striker issues by potentially playing up top.
Although that may be a last resort for Moyes, there must be some concerns over the midfielder’s lack of opportunities coming from the starting XI.
Across all competition, Dewsbury-Hall has returned the same number of goals as Alcaraz in almost double the game time.
Unless something changes quickly, the Argentine may find himself questioning his decision to join the club over the summer.
