Everton were left furious with referee Darren England following a bizarre decision he made during the Merseyside Derby.

David Moyes and his side were sent back to the Hill Dickinson Stadium without a point following their trip to Anfield.

The damage was done in the first half, but there were some positives to take from the Merseyside Derby defeat.

Ally McCoist was wowed by Jack Grealish for his display in what was his first derby as an Everton player.

However, there was one major frustration throughout the course of the game for the Toffees, and that was the referee.

Grealish and Moyes vented their anger at the referee after full-time, with one decision really infuriating those in the Everton dugout.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at risk of Everton suspension after Merseyside Derby

Following the game, Grealish slammed the referee for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s yellow card for taking a free-kick quickly.

The Everton bench was left stunned at the decision, which could have some real consequences over the coming weeks.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Grealish pointed out that Dewsbury-Hall is now actually on the verge of a one-game suspension following England’s decision.

“Kiernan now, I think, is on four yellows. So, he’s got one more and he gets a yellow today for taking a quick free kick,” Grealish said.

“We want to get the game going. We’re losing the game. I’ve never heard of that in my life.”

Dewsbury-Hall has impressed a lot of pundits for the way he has adapted to life on Merseyside.

However, his disciplinary record is looking like it could already be set to bite him just weeks into the season.

Dewsbury-Hall’s disciplinary record at Everton

The decision from England against Dewsbury-Hall in the Merseyside Derby was a shocker, which will rightfully be criticised.

But that will not do any favours for Dewsbury-Hall given a yellow card cannot be rescinded.

Having picked up four yellow cards in his opening five Premier League games, Dewsbury-Hall is one more away from a one-game suspension.

Gary Lineker has also hailed Dewsbury-Hall for his performances in an Everton shirt, and the potential one-game ban will be a real blow for the Blues.

Some huge games are coming up for the Toffees, which they would hope to have Dewsbury-Hall available for.
