Everton target in ‘advanced talks’ to link up with Neymar at Santos instead of David Moyes

Everton are looking at a number of players as the transfer deadline creeps ever closer – but one player looks to snubbed a move to Goodison Park.

It’s a big few days for the club, with the January window closing on Monday.

Everton have done well over the last couple of weeks in the Premier League and are now six points clear of the relegation zone.

But that gap could shrink if Everton don’t act in the coming days.

Because David Moyes has several injury problems at the moment, and the feeling is that the Toffees are a bit light.

There have been lots of transfer links over the past few days and weeks, and one man who’s been touted as a possible incoming is Arthur Melo.

But Fabrizio Romano has today provided an update that all but rules out a move from Everton for the Brazilian.

A couple of months ahead of this transfer window, it was claimed Everton were ready to offer Arthur Melo a move to Goodison Park.

Shortly after that, it was even claimed that Everton were the most likely club to sign Arthur.

Last week, Everton then made contact with Juventus to sign Arthur.

Juventus have been very keen to offload Arthur, but it looks as though he will not be heading to Merseyside, with the player opting to return to his homeland.

Fabrizio Romano reported earlier on X: “Understand Santos are in advanced talks to sign Arthur Melo on loan deal from Juventus.

“The agreement for former Liverpool midfielder would also include a buy option clause. Arthur, open to joining Santos with Neymar coming too.”

Earlier this week, it was reported Neymar is to complete a move back to his first club, after his contract at Al-Hilal was cancelled by mutual consent.

There are better options for Everton than Arthur

So barring some massively unexpected twist, Everton won’t be signing Arthur – and fans surely won’t be too upset over this.

Ultimately, Arthur is still a player who is unproven in England, having had a torrid time at Liverpool with an injury that limited him to just a single cameo appearance.

There are better players out there for Everton to try and bring in.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is wanted by Everton and the Chelsea man could be a great addition.

Dewsbury-Hall’s Chelsea teammate Carney Chukwuemeka is another player Everton have an interest in.
