Everton’s struggles in the January transfer window have just been made even more apparent as another transfer is seemingly off the cards.
The January transfer window is proving a difficult one for Everton to operate in as the Blues await their first addition.
David Moyes will be very clear in what he feels he needs this month having seen his squad depleted over recent weeks.
During a recent press conference, Moyes said Everton’s owners are backing them over the course of the window, but the wait goes on.
That has not translated into new additions walking through the doors at Finch Farm, though.
And there will be one player who certainly will not be making the move to Merseyside after a significant setback has emerged.

Everton suffer Artem Dovbyk transfer setback
It has been suggested that Everton have shown an interest in Artem Dovbyk of the Friedkins’ other clubs AS Roma.
Dovbyk has found his future in the Italian capital become increasingly uncertain as Roma search for a new striker of their own.
According to Il Messaggero, an injury to Dovbyk over recent weeks has now all but ruled out a move away from Roma.
Name your Everton signing out of these strikers… 💥
Have we missed anyone out? 🤔
The report suggests that Roma were keen to sell Dovbyk on over the course of January, with West Ham also showing interest before they signed Taty Castellanos.
However, the injury issue has come as a real blow, with the Ukraine international now expected to be forced into remaining at Roma as a result.
Everton’s hopes of signing a striker are diminishing as the weeks go by and priorities are being placed elsewhere in the market.
As a result, this could well mean that Beto could be set to remain at Everton for the remainder of the winter market.
Beto looking more likely to remain at Everton
It has also been suggested that Everton could be open to allowing Beto to depart the club over the coming weeks.
However, being unable to bring in another striker this month would also rule out a potential exit for the 27-year-old forward.
How much could Everton realistically get for Beto in January? 😬
Or should he even be starting ahead of Thierno Barry?
Beto has struggled this season despite impressing initially following Moyes’ return to Merseyside.
Thierno Barry has enjoyed the majority of starts at Everton since he made the move over the summer transfer window.
Clearly, neither striker is currently offering enough for Moyes, but the expectation for movement in the market is taking somewhat of a knock.
