The Friedkins issue clear January transfer message at Everton

Everton are keen to add a new right-back and striker in the January window to really bolster their lack of depth.

Sufficient funds were set aside over the summer and fans will be hoping for more of the same over the coming weeks.

During his Finch Farm press conference on Friday, Moyes shared what he has been told by the owners in what will be his second full transfer window back on Merseyside.

“I think if we found the right players and the players we want then we could do so [add in January],” said the 62-year-old.

“But I think finding the right players is the hard bit.”

Everton are expected to wave goodbye to Seamus Coleman at the end of the season, as his contract comes to an end.

With Nathan Patterson the only fit, natural right-back currently at the club, it is clear just where Moyes will be looking to add to over the next few weeks.

The Friedkins must continue to back David Moyes

Since returning to the club, Moyes has shown more than enough to receive the financial backing of the owners.

Leon Osman hailed the Friedkins for bringing Moyes back and it is a move which has certainly paid off.

The 62-year-old has certainly endured some struggles since returning to the club and the current injury crisis has to be up there.

What position do Everton need to strengthen in most, right-back or striker?

Everton target Vitinho.

But Everton have headed into 2026 in eighth spot of the Premier League table and sit just five points off the top four.

Moyes wants Everton to push for Europe and he may well struggle to do so with his current options.

The Friedkins must invest this month and capitalise on the opportunity they have under Moyes to really push on from their struggles over recent years.
