Everton trump Juventus and West Ham with significant offer to £25m defender, but there’s a twist

Everton are finding themselves battling with West Ham United a lot for their transfer targets of late.

It is not just new signings which Everton find themselves up against the Hammers for, too.

Back in January, Everton wanted to appoint Graham Potter as their successor for Sean Dyche, but that thankfully panned out for the better.

However, the pair are looking set to go head-to-head in the summer transfer window once again.

Everton are looking to add a new centre-back over the summer with Michael Keane set to leave the club at the end of the season.

The Friedkins will have a number of targets on their radar, but there is one who West Ham are also showing an interest in.

Interest is growing and Everton are prepared to even offer more than Juventus to sign the player, but there is a significant twist.

Everton offer more than Juventus for summer target

Nick Hammond has already been tasked to find a new defender with the Leeds United chief set to land from Leeds United over the coming weeks.

The Friedkins are ready to back Everton’s transfer hopes in the market, but they are going to face some difficulties.

According to TuttoSport, Everton and West Ham are now set to face disappointment in their pursuits of Federico Gatti.

The £25m-rated Juventus defender has reportedly now come to the decision to knock back interest from the Premier League and ink a new deal in Turin.

Everton were prepared to offer the defender more money than Juventus, but he has decided money is not everything and he wants to remain in Italy.

He is not the only defender who the Toffees have on their radar, though.

Everton are interested in David Hancko of Feyenoord but also face stern competition for his signature.

Everton need squad depth at centre-back

David Moyes would like to sign a new full-back as he only has one senior option at left-back with Vitaliy Mykolenko.

But there is not a great deal of scope for improvement at centre-back with a solid partnership former between Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski.

Branthwaite has interest from Premier League clubs this summer which the Blues will be hoping to rebuff.

The 22-year-old has shown he is susceptible to picking up the odd injury which will mean Everton require quality backups for throughout the season.

It is clear Gatti is not interested in leaving Turin, but at least the Toffees can move on already to their other targets.
