Everton handed fresh ‘hope’ of signing wonderkid ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal

Everton are one of the clubs in the Premier League who are keen to sign Sunderland’s Chris Rigg this summer.

The 17-year-old midfielder is a player who is viewed across Europe as one of the hottest talents in the game.

Sunderland’s season is far from over, with Regis Le Bris’ side set to take on the Championship Play-Offs as they eye their overdue return to the top flight.

David Moyes will be one of the many managers who will have a keen eye on how his former side and Rigg get on.

Everton are eyeing a move for Rigg, but a lot could still depend on what league the Black Cats are playing their football in next season.

Everton handed Chris Rigg transfer hope

Sunderland manager Le Bris has already commented on Rigg’s transfer interest, with clubs flocking at the doors of the Academy of Light on Wearside.

Speaking to Everton News, Bailey has believes a club like Everton will have hope of landing Rigg as they could offer him regular Premier League football.

“There is hope for the likes of Everton with Chris Rigg as he will want a club where he can play regular football,” he said.

“It’s going to be interesting to see where he ends up. I wouldn’t rule Everton out of that but he does have his pick of clubs. Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, I would not rule Everton out of it.”

There are a lot of Everton fans wanting to sign Rigg this summer, with the youngster clearly rated as one of the top talents about.

Some really interesting weeks lie ahead for Rigg and the Black Cats as promotion back to the Premier League would likely play a huge part in his future.

The 17-year-old has come through Sunderland’s academy and the opportunity to play a season – or more – in the top flight with them could prove an obvious decision.

Everton could guarantee Chris Rigg regular football

With a big summer on the horizon, Everton are keen to add a new midfielder to their squad with a number of players potentially leaving.

Abdoulaye Doucoure’s future on Merseyside remains undecided as well as the likes of Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Regardless of whether either of these players are to be handed new deals, Everton would have to guarantee minutes to Rigg.

The youngster has shown the ability to play a little higher up the pitch with a real eye for goal.

If Everton are to stand a chance of beating some of Europe’s elite to the signing of the youngster, they simply would have to provide him the guarantee of playing every week.

Sunderland are rebuffing any interest in Rigg as they look to focus on the play-offs, but when their fate is sealed, the interest is set to be off the charts.
