Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has hit out on social media after hearing rumours he has told the Republic of Ireland he will change national allegiance.
The 2025/26 campaign was a successful one for Dewsbury-Hall on the back of his move to Merseyside from Chelsea.
However, the midfielder did look like he had run out of steam towards the back end of the campaign.

Despite ending the season in eight goals and six assists in the Premier League, the Everton midfielder was not selected for Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.

Sam Allardyce has seen huge improvements from Dewsbury-Hall this season after becoming a real threat under David Moyes.
Unfortunately, Dewsbury-Hall was unable to end the season in style, with his England omission raising suggestions he could consider representing the Republic of Ireland.
“Just not true. Massive respect to [Ireland] as I’ve previously stated, but I’m English & England is always the dream,” Dewsbury-Hall said on X.

A classy response from Dewsbury-Hall, who is still holding on to the dream of representing England before he calls time on his career.
James Garner was also omitted from England’s squad, but the news did not surprise Moyes, who was not impressed with how his side ended their season.
Dewsbury-Hall is competing in perhaps the area of the field where Tuchel may feel he has the most quality.
Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Morgan Gibbs-White were all omitted from the squad despite the obvious quality they all possess.
It would have been an easy choice for Dewsbury-Hall to switch to the Irish national side, but there is a lot to admire in his determination to play for England.
That attitude is something that will bode well on Merseyside given the steely tenacity to aim big from the 27-year-old.
