Everton fans are hopeful one or two signings will be made before Monday night’s deadline, and there was an exciting link on Wednesday night.

It’s been a quiet window for the Toffees, which many fans have found frustrating given the position the club are in right now.

But the narrative has always been that Everton will operate cautiously, as they don’t necessarily see the most value in this window.

That said, Everton have been looking out for a new striker this month.

Youssef En-Nesyri has been of interest to the club, but that move has proved tricky.

Last night though, Everton were linked with another striker from Fenerbahce in Jhon Duran, who left the Premier League in 2025 to join Al-Nassr, before joining the Turkish giants on loan.

It would be an exciting signing, with Everton having been on the receiving end of his quality before.

Duran signed for Aston Villa in January 2023 from Chicago Fire.

Interestingly, this came after Frank Lampard had actually showed an interest in signing Duran for Everton.

The Colombia international would go on to make a name for himself in the Premier League as a super sub.

With Ollie Watkins the top dog, Unai Emery often brought Duran off the bench in games – and he bagged several times.

And he scored a particularly special goal against Everton in September 2024 that actually won him the Premier League Goal of the Month award.

Everton had taken a 2-0 lead at Villa Park through Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. But Villa hit back through an Ollie Watkins brace.

With the game delicately poised at 2-2, up stepped Duran, who unleashed a fierce drive from all of 30 yards into the top corner, giving Jordan Pickford absolutely no chance.

Frustratingly, Everton could have gone level after that when Calvert-Lewin struck the crossbar. But Duran’s goal was certainly a worthy game-winner.

Duran would boost Everton’s European football hopes

Much has been made of Everton’s striker situation.

Just lately though, the form of Thierno Barry has perhaps taken the focus away from the need to make a new signing.

Everton want Jhon Duran… would he be an upgrade on Thierno Barry? 👀

Everton transfer target Jhon Duran.

And with Jack Grealish getting injured, perhaps signing a new winger is now more pressing.

But Everton landing Duran in the coming days would be huge, given what we know he is capable of.

He is a striker of real quality, as that goal against Everton showed, and him pitching up at the Hill Dickinson Stadium could give the club’s European football hopes a real boost.
