Everton were treated to some comments from a former player recently, and it hasn’t gone down well with some supporters.
The January transfer window is around the corner, and it’s already looking like some additions may be required, with a lack of goals beingone of the main concerns.
However, it remains to be seen how much Everton will be able to spend in January, as it’s notoriously quiet and money is usually tight, especially with constant worries of PSR.
It’s potential outgoings that could be the order of play for the Toffees, as Jarrad Branthwaite will attract inevitable interest and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract is set to expire in the summer.
The Friedkin Group should have their takeover completed by mid-December, so they’ll have a big say on exactly what goes on in the month of January.
Interestingly, it’s a player that left in the summer who is attracting the interest of Everton fans at the moment after a comparison was made at his new club.
Amadou Onana compares Aston Villa to Everton
Amadou Onana left Everton to join Aston Villa for a fee of £50 million in the summer.
He’s already settled in nicely at Villa Park, contributing with goals towards the start of the season.

However, Everton was a topic he talked about recently (as per Birmingham Live), as he compared life at Aston Villa to previously being at Goodison Park.
Onana stated.
“Unai has added a lot to my game. I think I am a completely different player if you compare it to last season at Everton. He has added bits to my game which I didn’t have before.
“I am really, really grateful and thankful for that. My start has been good, but it could have been better. I can still improve on different aspects and parts of my game. I am learning day by day. The manager is one of the best in the business. I am looking forward to continue working with him on a daily basis.”
“I think more and more on the ball, with my physicality everyone knows I play with a lot of duels and intensity but on the ball I can definitely improve.”
Everton fans react to Amadou Onana’s words
These Everton fans, when speaking on X, weren’t too happy about Onana’s comments.

@Jhughes1J stated: “Whilst sat on the bench tonight!!”
@PaulBennoFlynn mentioned: “Is he saying he no longer spends half the game rolling around the floor?”
“Boring ….. imo he wasn’t that good for us it’s that simple but feels like a very divisive tweet which is Evertonians don’t need right now so please jog on.”, @Chazblue82 wasn’t having any of it.
@Stewartwright18 commented: “That’s because he couldn’t be bothered playing at times.”
