How David Moyes has truly found working with The Friedkin Group at Everton

As David Moyes’ second spell with Everton has now reached over six months, the Scotsman has revealed some truths about The Friedkin Group.

The transfer window hasn’t moved as smoothly as expected, but there is still confidence that Everton’s remaining areas will get sorted.

Plenty of work still needs to be done, but the struggle is that Moyes finds that Everton aren’t an attractive option at the moment.

Most of this is due to the club not being in Europe, as the Scotsman hasn’t worried about this in previous jobs like West Ham.

But another part of it could be the Toffees manager and The Friedkins‘ working relationship, as Moyes has revealed all.

David Moyes finds working with The Friedkin Group ‘quite easy’ at Everton

After sharing each other’s plans for the season, there is a clear aim with the kind of players the Blues are looking at.

Everton want players with ‘character’ in their squad as the manager wants a side competing for Europe soon rather than later, but will know next season presents a tricky start.

To overcome this start to the campaign, there needs to be a smooth operation in the background, and the 62-year-old has said that The Friedkins are ‘easy’ to work with.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Moyes said: “I’ve found them quite easy to deal with. Maybe, they could have had some doubts as well, possibly about maybe bringing me back as well?”

“I don’t think there’s any doubt that I can help the Friedkins as well. I’m not a specialist in Everton, I’m not that, but I think I’ve got a pretty good idea about what’s required, how the club is run and how it works.

“They’re there for me and they’re supportive in terms of that they want us to go out and build a new team really.”

This will be music to Evertonians’ ears as there is surely doubt over the slow movements in the window so far.

Moyes still wants eight new players, and with their ‘easy’ structure at the club, surely this can be completed.

David Moyes urged The Friedkin Group to buy correct players and not just spend

There is a reason behind Everton’s lack of ambition in the market so far.

Although plenty of funds have become available with Moyes potentially utilising £100 million, the message across the club seems to not repeat the same mistakes of Farhad Moshiri’s needless spending.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of a 2-1 win vs Crystal Palace in February, Moyes referred to the club’s past and made it clear that the right players had to join.

“I don’t think we’re going to have enough money to say we’ll suddenly be back competing again. I’m hoping I can do what I did with West Ham, where the club nearly got relegated and we ended up back up there,” Moyes said.

“My gut feeling of them is they want us to spend. When I say that, I mean they want us to buy correct players. They don’t want us to just spend.”

It’s good to know that both the manager and the hierarchy are on the same path, and hopefully by the end of August, the correct players will have been bought.

Then Moyes can put words into action, and there is every chance the Toffees can have a bright future with the Scotsman at the helm.
