Everton fans might still be feeling hard done by after missing out on Liam Delap to Chelsea.
It would have been the dream signing of the summer, but Everton signing Delap just never came to fruition.
The Toffees’ desire was clearly on the table for the 22-year-old, and Everton fans believed Delap made the wrong move.
Time will tell if that was correct, but the Ipswich striker joining the project under The Friedkin Group ultimately seemed like a no-brainer.
Well now, David Moyes needs to move on from Delap, and someone else who could be in Everton’s plans is Jamie Vardy.

How Everton truly feel about signing Jamie Vardy this summer
The striker is set to leave Leicester City after 13 seasons, but the 39-year-old could still have something to offer in the Premier League.
Moyes might see fit to give the striker the opportunity, as Troy Deeney backed Everton to sign Vardy.
It certainly seems like a possibility this summer, but Everton fans don’t want Vardy, which might send a message to The Friedkins.
Now the view of Everton has become clearer with The Daily Mirror’s Print Edition (11/06/25) giving insight.
The ownership’s feelings about Vardy have been revealed, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin has also had his future laid out.
It’s said that a move for Delap proves that the Toffees want another striker, even if Calvert-Lewin stays.
But Everton have assured that Vardy will not be that signing, with the newspaper insisting there is no interest from Moyes’ side of things.

Everton will dodge a bullet by not signing Vardy
The news about the veteran striker will come as relief to Evertonians.
Their stance was obvious, and the striker who suffered a second relegation in three years just doesn’t seem like the way forward.
Even though he found himself amongst the goals again last season, there are still elements of his game that wouldn’t suit Moyes’ counter-attacking set-up.
| Vardy’s statisitcs in the Premier League 24/25 season | |
| Games played | 35 |
| Goals | 9 |
| Possession won final third | 9 |
| Duels won % | 47.9% |
| Touches in opposition box per 90 | 3.91 |
He still has a keen eye for goal, but after Everton missed out on Vardy’s prime, it shouldn’t justify a move now, and it appears to be that way.
