Everton are at risk of losing 21-year-old winger Kingsford Boakye this summer.
David Moyes wants more Everton academy graduates impacting his thinking with the senior side at Finch Farm.
There is some irony in that, given the 63-year-old’s reluctance to use the youngsters he already has at his disposal.
Where do you stand on Braiden Graham… would you give him his debut? 🎯
However, Everton risk losing Boakye to one of Europe’s top clubs as his contract at Finch Farm is set to expire at the end of the term.

Everton receive interest in Kingsford Boakye
There are a number of European outfits already lining up to potentially sign Boakye this summer.
The interested clubs are:
- Manchester United
- RB Leipzig
- Brighton
- Atletico Madrid
- Monaco
- Feyenoord
- Genoa
Does David Moyes need to put more trust in Everton’s academy players? 😤
Surely some of these players can do better than Beto and Dwight McNeil! 😡
Although Boakye is coming to the end of his deal on Merseyside, there is still a possibility that Everton could secure a nominal fee from his potential departure.
Speaking to Everton News, finance expert Adam Williams has shared how the Friedkins could actually claim a fee from Boakye’s possible exit.
“If the player moves somewhere domestically, it will go to tribunal, unless the two clubs can make an agreement independently,” said Williams.
“To get to that stage, Everton need to prove that they have offered him the chance to stay, which they obviously will have done in order to protect themselves financially, even if he has long made it clear that he intends to leave.“
Boakye played 13 times in the Premier League 2 under Paul Tait this season, where he was able to return two goals and two assists.
“The tribunal then take into account his first-team minutes, development costs, time spent with the club and so on. It seems like more of an art than a science, really,” Williams added.
“That tribunal can also say that, if his next clubs sells him, Everton can get, by way of example, 10 per cent of the profit. But I think the fact that he has only been with Everton two years means they aren’t going to get meaningful money for the player.
“The record fee was for Danny Ings when he left Burnley for Liverpool. That was about £6.5m upfront, rising to £8m with performance-related add-ons. Rio Ngumoha’s was £2.8m but with the potential to go to £6.8m. For Kingsford Boakye, it’s going to be a much more modest fee, if it gets to tribunal at all. If he moves domestically, I suspect there will be a settlement before tribunal.
“Of course, if he ends up abroad – and I believe there are headlines about Atletico Madrid, potentially – there’s no compensation at all besides FIFA’s training compensation, which would probably be worth a very modest, low eight-figure sum to Everton. So if he does leave for free, Everton will be hoping it is to an English club. Viewed through a financial lens, at least.“
With such a high calibre of teams interested in his services, there is a possibility that Everton are about to lose a real prospect.
Tait hailed Boakye for his assist just the other week against Watford, which saw Braiden Graham score a last-minute winning goal.
However, the Ghanaian winger did not start the following game on Friday evening against Brentford in the quarter-final of the Professional Development League.
Boakye may not have shown enough at Everton
At the age of 21, Boakye will certainly be viewed as behind the curve if he is to make an impact on Everton’s senior side.
Perhaps his exclusion from the U21 starting XI in recent weeks ties in to his expiring contract at the end of the term.
| Competition | Apps | Goals | Assists | Yellow Cards | Minutes |
| Premier League 2 | 13 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 813′ |
| PL International Cup | 5 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 269′ |
| National League Cup | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 55′ |
| EFL Trophy | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 45′ |
| TOTAL | 21 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 1,182′ |
Although Boakye has not quite hit the heights of players like Graham, there are clearly a lot of interested clubs in his services.
As Williams said, the Blues are likely to have offered him the option to remain in order to cover their own back financially.
