This, whether for good or for bad, could prove to be one of the most important seasons in Everton’s history.
After all, already it will be the most historic, given it will be their final campaign with Goodison Park as their home.
Set to move into the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, they will seek to do so with as strong a squad as possible, and hopefully with their top-flight status intact.
However, that will not be easy. Not with the talent they have that others covet.
Everton’s new stance on Jarrad Branthwaite revealed
In the very same report that offered an update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s Everton contract situation, TEAMtalk would then go on to provide more information about the club’s stance on another exit-linked superstar.
However, the absence of this one would hit far harder than any other, as Jarrad Branthwaite has grown into their leading man at the back.

Fortunately, this particular outlet has good news for Evertonians, writing: ‘Sources have consistently told TEAMtalk that Everton are not concerned by the reported interest in Branthwaite, who is under contract until 2027. Everton will not budge on Branthwaite’s valuation of over £75m and would only consider a sale if a bid in that region is tabled, but we understand that it is very unlikely he’ll be allowed to leave in January.’
Liverpool have shown an interest in signing Branthwaite of late, adding to a list of suitors already including Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Jarrad Branthwaite fitness update
Dyche did provide a fitness update on Branthwaite straight after the Newcastle United game, but plenty has changed since then.
After all, having failed to be fit enough, or available enough throughout the season to earn an England call-up, this latest international break has been one of rest and recuperation for the 22-year-old.

And a much-needed one too, given he has made just one appearance in the Premier League this season.
His absence has hit Everton manager Sean Dyche far harder than anyone could have anticipated, with their torrid start to the season largely owed to the defensive vacancy he left.
Getting him back regularly fit is of paramount importance.
So, to see one injury predict Branthwaite’s potential return, there is cause for optimism.

Especially when The Athletic doubled down on this notion, writing just last week: ‘Everton hopefuls Branthwaite (thigh) and Vitalii Mykolenko (calf) will also be ready to return after the international break while young winger Stan Mills, who had knee surgery in January, is back doing light running.
‘Maybe an end to their injury problems is finally in sight.’
