The January transfer window is now just a matter of hours away from opening with Everton in need of some upgrades.
It has not been the start to the season which Everton fans would have hoped for with the Toffees failing to pull away from another relegation battle.
There has been some promising news in the way of The Friedkin Group’s takeover on Merseyside, but there is a lot of work needing to be done.
The Friedkins could have a January transfer surprise in store at Everton with additions needed.
That work was highlighted on Sunday when Sean Dyche’s side returned to losing ways against Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park.
With new owners now at the helm, there will be an expectation among the fans for improvements to be made and soon.

Everton expected to spend in January transfer market
The Friedkins have handed Kevin Thelwell their support ahead of the window opening as they look to provide Everton some stability.
And taking to social media, Alan Myers has provided his expectation for the Toffees to spend some money over the coming weeks.
However, there may well have to be an expectation as to how much business is going to be done.
‘I think there will be some business done but not a load,’ he replied to a fan asking whether signings will be made.
Everton are wary of PSR heading into January with the previous regime not exactly leaving the club in the best position.
And it now seems as if business may well be limited with a bigger focus potentially on the summer transfer window.
Everton need to find goals from somewhere
Since beating Wolves 4-0 earlier in the month, Everton have scored just one goal in their following four games.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future remains uncertain at Everton and he was dropped to the bench on the weekend.
Although there has been a calling for Armando Broja to pick up game time, it is going to take the Albanian time to get up to speed having missed so much time through injury.

But Everton do not really have time to wait about for goals with the teams around them having closed the gap around the bottom.
If The Friedkin Group are seriously concerned about relegation then perhaps a proven striker is what the club needs in January.
