Irritated Everton target snubbed again by manager despite wanting more playing time

A lot can happen at the end of the winter transfer window, and Everton could land a striker they admire before the 2nd February deadline.

A report from the Northern Echo recently claimed that Everton have made contact with Sunderland to ask about Wilson Isidor – who is valued at £25m.

Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris then added an interesting dimension to the rumours by admitting that Isidor is frustrated by his lack of playing time, after losing his spot to Brian Brobbey.

Le Bris actually opted to change his formation slightly and field two strikers for the trip to West Ham on Saturday, but intriguingly overlooked the Everton target and chose Eliezer Mayenda to partner Brobbey instead.

Wilson Isidor surely now even more frustrated at Sunderland as Everton keep tabs

Isidor had made 11 Premier League starts this season before Brobbey muscled him aside, whereas Mayenda had only amassed five starts before the trip to east London.

However, Le Bris plumped for his less-fancied option instead of the Everton target, a move which ultimately backfired as Sunderland lost 3-1. The Black Cats were even 3-0 down after just 43 minutes.

Isidor did feature for the last 15 minutes, but he will surely be a tad concerned about his future at Sunderland after supposedly falling to third-choice under Le Bris, who typically fields one striker in a 5-4-1 shape.

Wilson Isidor seems like he might be one of the last realistic options for Everton this winter

The situation involving Isidor at Sunderland is worth keeping an eye on for Everton fans, as many other strikers being linked to the Toffees are moving elsewhere.

Youssef En-Nesyri is heading to Juventus on loan from Fenerbahce despite strong interest from Everton, while The Times claimed that The Friedkin Group were watching Tammy Abraham too, although he is on the brink of signing for Aston Villa.

Would signing a new striker ruin Barry’s development?

Jorgen Strand Larsen is another to have been linked with Everton, but Leeds are now confident of agreeing a £40m deal for the Wolves striker.

With options running thin, Isidor may therefore be a genuine option for Everton after Le Bris overlooked him for a start once again.
