Everton were dealt a hammer blow earlier this week as Jack Grealish sustained a long-term injury.

Jack Grealish underwent tests after the Aston Villa win, and specialists confirmed that he had a stress fracture in his foot.

It was initially reported that Grealish would be out for three months, which would see him return in the middle of April.

Everton star Jack Grealish could be out for the whole season

The previous return date had Grealish back in time for the Merseyside derby on April the 18th. That would’ve allowed him to play the last eight games of the season.

But, according to the Daily Mail, Everton are now fearing that the 30-year-old could be out for the whole season.

How good of a signing would this be for Everton? 👀

That’s because Grealish may require surgery to repair the stress fracture, so it remains to be seen whether he will return to Manchester City.

Speaking in his press conference on Friday, Moyes appeared to suggest that the England international’s loan could end.

“We’re in close contact with Manchester City, so we’ll see how that works as we go along, and as we get more decisions from the specialists.”

David Moyes surprised by the extent of Jack Grealish’s injury

Moyes explained that everyone was quite relaxed about the situation when Grealish initially reported some pain in his calf, so he was evidently surprised to learn that it was a stress fracture.

“It is a blow to lose him,” the Everton boss said on Friday.

“He didn’t come in (complaining) about his foot. He had a kick on the calf and we thought he’d be OK. That it was just a kick on the back of the calf and he would be OK in a couple of days but they checked his foot out and he has a stress fracture.

“It’s a real pity for the boy. He’s been back at it, enjoying it and doing what he is good at. He has been supported brilliantly by the supporters at Everton.  They think so much of him and it’s just disappointing he is going to have some time off.”

Despite the injury, it has been reported that Everton are still keen on signing Grealish on a permanent deal in the summer.
