Everton fans have been brought down from the high of beating Aston Villa following the news about Jack Grealish.
Everton confirmed on Tuesday that Grealish had sustained a foot injury, adding that the winger was under the care of the medical team and that he would be seeing a specialist.
Then on Wednesday morning, Fabrizio Romano claimed Grealish is looking at six months out with his injury.
Who would you play at left wing in place of the injured Jack Grealish? 🤔
The winger is reportedly facing THREE months out – do Everton need to sign a replacement?
The development now raises a lot of questions.
In the short term, David Moyes has to work out how best to cover his absence. Tyler Dibling could get a chance in light of Grealish’s injury.
The club may also dip into the transfer market to land a replacement.
And then there’s the long term, and The i Paper have offered a line about the potential for Everton to sign Grealish permanently.

Jack Grealish could still sign for Everton permanently

It’s something many Evertonians immediately thought about.
Grealish has impressed during his loan, and many have been all for him signing permanently.
The i Paper report that despite what has happened to Grealish, it is ‘unlikely’ that Everton will be deterred from making a permanent swoop in the summer.
Seemingly, he has done enough already in the shirt to encourage Everton to pursue a permanent deal.
Of course, Everton do already have an option to buy Grealish for £50 million – a clause that was agreed with Manchester City last summer.
Would you even pay £30m for Jack Grealish? 🫣
But following the injury, the chances of Everton triggering that clause are now extremely slim, you would think.
It is practically certain that the Toffees will seek to come to a new agreement with City over a potential transfer for a lower figure.
Grealish sends message amid injury news
Amid all the speculation about his injury, Grealish has actually taken to social media to send a message to fans.
Nothing has actually been confirmed yet, other than he has a foot injury.
But clearly, it is a serious issue – and Grealish is devastated, with the winger posting a picture of himself on his Instagram Story of him during an Everton game earlier this season applauding fans, with a heartbroken emoji.

We await a further update from Everton, but it looks like we won’t be seeing him much during the rest of the campaign.
But it’s good to hear that Everton likely won’t be deterred from trying to sign him permanently.
Ultimately, Grealish is an excellent player whose creativity really helps this side.
