It’s become so obvious who the Friedkin Group’s first signing at Everton should be – he’s actually available

Everton have really struggled to score goals this season.

In fact, Sean Dyche’s side have failed to score in each of their last four games, which is really concerning.

Dyche’s defensive set-up certainly doesn’t help, but it’s evident he’s lacking a real prolific centre-forward.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto have netted a combined three league goals this season and look completely bereft of confidence.

Beto was given the nod against Manchester United at the weekend but failed to make any real impact, so it’s obvious what Everton need to do in January.

Beto didn’t take his chance vs Manchester United

Calvert-Lewin was finally dropped at the weekend.

Everton fans have been urging Dyche to bench Calvert-Lewin for weeks and he finally decided to start Beto over him for the first time in the Premier League this season.

However, Beto didn’t take his chance at all as evinced by his really underwhelming Sofascore statistics.

Granted, the towering centre-forward wasn’t given much service, but he didn’t make the ball stick when Everton did gain possession and he failed to hit the target with his two efforts.

So after Sunday’s display, the Toffees must go all out for Evan Ferguson in January.

Evan Ferguson would be an upgrade on Beto and Calvert-Lewin

It recently came to light that Brighton have made Evan Ferguson available for loan this January transfer window.

The promising 20-year-old forward hasn’t featured as regularly as he would’ve liked as he’s behind Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro in the pecking order.

Ferguson is desperate to play regularly and Everton should offer him that platform this winter as he’d be a massive upgrade on Beto and Calvert-Lewin.

The Republic of Ireland international is a physically imposing centre-forward and would actually suit Dyche’s system really well.

Though, Ferguson is also more than capable of playing in a possession-based side, so if Everton were to make a change in the dugout and bring in a more attack-minded coach, he’d be equally as effective.

His former manager Roberto De Zerbi once claimed that he could become the most prolific striker in Europe.

“He can become big, big, big,” De Zerbi told Sky Sports.

“His qualities are enough to become a great player. He can become one of the best, the top scorer in Europe.”
