Everton loanee Jack Grealish will have one eye on the developments at Manchester City with pep Guardiola.

On Monday evening, it was widely reported that Guardiola will step away from Man City after their final game of the season on Sunday.

Grealish is said to be keen on staying at Everton beyond his current loan deal, with just one year remaining on his contract with City.

With Everton also keen to keep Grealish, the imminent appointment of Enzo Maresca could throw a spanner in the works.

Man City’s managerial news may have complicated Jack Grealish to Everton

Everton remain in talks with Man City over Grealish, but the return of Maresca to the Etihad Stadium could potentially cause an issue.

Maresca and Grealish hold a very close bond, with the Italian manager previously Guardiola’s number two in Manchester.

After Chelsea’s win over Everton back in December, Grealish and Maresca were seen hugging and in deep conversation after the full-time whistle at Stamford Bridge.

Moyes wants to keep Grealish at Everton for next season, but the opportunity to potentially save his Man City career under Maresca may also appeal.

Guardiola had seemingly given up on Grealish, with the Spaniard not standing in the 30-year-old’s way last summer.

However, a fresh start from Man City, with a new manager, could be exactly what Grealish needs to kickstart his career at the Etihad.

The reality is there is probably too much water under the bridge now for Grealish in Manchester, but the managerial developments will be something the forward will have an eye on.

Grealish has loved life at Everton, yet the chance to go again at City could come as an unexpected opportunity for the 30-year-old ahead of next season.
