The Goodison Park atmosphere will be missed but the hope is that the Everton fans can carry it over to the new ground.

Everton put in a valiant display against Man City in what was Goodison’s third-to-last game of the season.

An emotional time for the club, who are now counting down the days till the inevitable closure.

The Toffees boss didn’t seem too impressed with his performance however, as Moyes slammed Carlos Alcaraz for giving the ball away.

But there was more going on off the pitch which took centre-stage involving City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

Kevin De Bruyne responds to Everton fans’ respect

The Toffees are certainly one of the most respectful fans in the country, and it’s clear to see why.

Moyes adds to the club’s background being one of the more respected managers in the game, and it’s easy when you can galvanise a club in three months.

Tony Bellew wants pundits to apologize to Moyes after previously going against his appointment as he’s no doubt proved them wrong.

Away from Moyes though, fans chose to show their respect to the Man City midfielder as Everton fans applauded De Bruyne vs City coming after his announcement that he was leaving the club.

The Belgian has now responded and sent a message to the Evertonians that showed their respect after speaking out in a post-match interview.

“It’s something really rare to come out and get an applause from another team, so I just want to say thank you to them,” De Bruyne said.

De Bruyne highlights ‘hard’ Moyes trait at Everton

The City veteran will be missed in the Premier League, that is if he’s leaving the English top flight.

Despite the respect between player and the Toffees, City fans still mocked Everton with a points deduction chant which didn’t help the mood.

Even though this put a dampener on what was a respectful moment, the 31-year-old sees past this and has praised Moyes’ style of play.

“I think they appreciate the way that I play. The way Everton play is hard. Defensively, they are sound, and we tried to break that, but it was hard,” De Bruyne said.

Who knows, although a slim chance, if De Bruyne likes Moyes’ style so much, maybe he’ll fancy a move to the Bramley-Moore Dock…
