Everton are looking to make a late deal happen for a new striker in these final hours.

David Moyes will be sitting on the edge of his seat as the clock ticks down to the 11 pm deadline tonight with a number of positions still needing to be addressed.

Carlos Alcaraz has signed his Everton contract and will join on an initial loan, which could be made permanent until the end of the season.

There has been plenty on display for Everton fans to get excited about in recent weeks since Sean Dyche’s departure.

However, Everton are still looking to sign a new striker due to the catastrophic injury issues being suffered up top.

With a matter of hours remaining, Everton News understands the Toffees are discussing one striker, in particular.

Everton discussing late move for Benfica’s Arthur Cabral

Sources have informed Everton News that those at the club are discussing a potential late swoop for striker Arthur Cabral.

The 26-year-old still has three years remaining on his contract at Benfica and has been subject of interest from other Premier League sides.

West Ham also eyed the Brazilian as a potential option before securing the services of Evan Ferguson earlier on deadline day.

Everton held an interest in Ferguson, but are now being forced to assess their other options as the 11 pm deadline nears.

Arthur Cabral could relish a fresh start

It has been a difficult campaign for Cabral in Portugal with just two starts to his name in Liga Portugal as well as some game time in the Champions League.

A real lack of football could well persuade the Brazilian in favour of making a late move on deadline day with the Premier League an option.

Everton are hoping Armando Broja’s injury is not too serious, so Moyes will potentially have strikers shortly returning from injuries.

But there has been a constant issue when it comes to losing strikers to injury this season.

Cabral would not arrive to Merseyside with an exciting record, but perhaps a fresh start could provide him with a new lease of life.
