Everton are finally appearing as a threat in the transfer market as a deal for Malick Fofana is progressing.
The 20-year-old winger from Lyon has been on Everton’s radar for a while, and now a deal could be coming to fruition.
Everton are battling Liverpool for Fofana, but according to Fabrizio Romano, it’s David Moyes’ side that are winning the race with an offer submitted by The Friedkin Group.
It’s a very exciting transfer from the Toffees, and The Friedkins’ transfer intent is finally being shown with this ambitious signing.
Fofana looks to be the real with him previously being rated at £52m, which might raise concerns about how a deal can be completed, but the real worry might be: Does Fofana actually want to join Moyes’ regime?

Malick Fofana’s stance on a move to Everton after bid
With Lyon going through their financial troubles, it’s no surprise that Everton have pounced on the opportunity to sign one of their most promising assets.
Fofana looks to be a gem, and has shown his quality for Lyon in his first few seasons since his £14.85m move from Gent.
There will be plenty of surprises with this deal, not just because The Friedkins are finally acting in the market but also because Nottingham Forest agreed a deal for Fofana.
Of course, this move collapsed, and now the exciting Belgian looks set for Everton with talks firmly underway.
Well, speaking to Everton.News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has outlined how the 20-year-old really feels about a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
“They have made firm offer after player confirmed willingness to join. They have been tracking him for weeks,” Bailey said.
“He was always very high on their radar but have had to work hard to convince him.”

What Everton can expect from potential £31m Fofana transfer
After Everton agreed a deal for Adam Aznou, to follow it up with Fofana so soon after, is something out of the blue to say the least.
With £52m stated before, it’s smart from The Friedkins to submit a decent £31m offer to kick off proceedings due to Everton only having £100m to spend, as L’Equipe journalist Hugo Guillement reports the figure offered.
Fofana has plenty of promise and ability, as last season at Lyon, he looked ready for the Premier League.
| Malick Fofana for Lyon in 24/25 | |
| Games played | 29 |
| Goal involvements | 9 (5G+4A) |
| Chances created | 25 |
| Successful dribbles per 90 | 1.36 |
| Fouls won | 36 |
His ability to win fouls and dribble past opponents makes him such a tricky winger to play against and to have the potential of Iliman Ndiaye and Thierno Barry in attack makes it frightening for the opposition.
It’s about time Everton are finally making things happen, and Fofana is a statement of intent as he’s clearly happy to make the move.
