Everton’s recruitment team is set to undergo major change ahead of the summer transfer window.

Dan Friedkin has let Kevin Thelwell leave for Scottish giants Rangers after three years as Everton’s sporting director.

Dan Purdy is also departing, although, that was against the Friedkin Group’s desire as they were considering offering him a more influential role.

Either way, Everton have exciting plans of their own, as highly-rated Leeds United chief Nick Hammond is set to make the switch to Goodison Park.

And now, speaking exclusively to Everton News, journalist Graeme Bailey has explained that a Leeds player could follow Hammond to Merseyside.

Everton could sign Leeds United defender Junior Firpo

Everton have been in the market for a left-back since January, with David Moyes identifying it as an area that needs strengthening.

Vitaliy Mykolenko’s performances have improved under Moyes, but clearly, he needs competition next season.

Bailey told the site that Leeds United full-back Junior Firpo, who joined from Barcelona in a £15m deal, could be one the club looks at, with his contract up in the summer.

“Junior Firpo has enjoyed a brilliant campaign with Leeds and interest is mounting,” the journalist explained.

“And who would know Firpo better than Angus Kinnear and Nick Hammond.

“It seems that a move to Spain could be his preference at this point, but I would not rule out the prospect of staying in England, and if he does, don’t rule out Everton.”

Junior Firpo stats 2024/25

Firpo wasn’t convincing in the Premier League but in the Championship, he’s established himself as one of the best left-backs in the league.

Firpo was named the Player of the Month in February and his statistics over the course of the season are really impressive for a defender.

Firpo registered a whopping 14 goal involvements, so quite clearly, if Everton want an attack-minded left-back, he should be right at the top of their list.
