Lyon are in a whole heap of trouble due to financial issues, which has many Everton fans asking questions about what will happen with Orel Mangala.

Orel Mangala joined Everton on a season-long loan in the summer.

The Belgian international has appeared nine times in all competitions for the Toffees, which has included two starts in his last two Premier League games.

Everton fans labelled Mangala as the shining light against Southampton on a gloomy day. He bossed things in midfield and looked like one of the only ones putting any effort in.

With the midfielder only on loan for the season, many fans have been wondering what the future holds for him, and an official document may just have revealed it.

Official document reveals Orel Mangala’s Everton situation

Lyon have been handed a transfer ban and threatened with relegation from the top flight by the game’s financial watchdog (as per Barron’s).

There were plenty of rumours floating around that Orel Mangala joined Everton in the summer on a season-long loan with the option to buy for £33.7 million.

According to Florian Plettenberg, an option to buy Mangala was inserted into his deal to join Everton.

However, an official document from Eagle Football Group that covers Lyon’s accounts has shown that not to be true, with the exact details of the loan revealed.

It was shared online by a fan.

It states that Orel Mangala is a free loan without a purchase option, so he will return to his parent club at the end of the current campaign.

Orel Mangala’s season to date at Everton

Orel Mangala has been a good option of late for Everton, but he’s not exactly pulled up trees.

Idrissa Gueye, James Garner, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Tim Iroegbunam are the midfield options outside of Mangala, so it’s not like the Toffees would be screwed.

With Lyon’s current situation, perhaps there could be the option to go in with a cheap bid for him in the summer, as they’ll likely need to raise any money they can.
