David Moyes has stayed extremely consistent with his team selection at Everton this season.

Approaching the halfway point in the 2025/26 Premier League season, Everton can be pleased with their progress under David Moyes so far.

In the 16 matches so far, Transfermarkt reveals that Everton have only used 19 players across all their league matches – the lowest of any top-flight side this season.

Moyes has found consistency in his line-ups, but there are positives and negatives to his approach.

Everton one of the most ‘stable’ Premier League clubs

As per The Athletic, only Crystal Palace have been more “stable” in their team selection so far this season.

Everton were given a stability rating of 89% based on the consistency of Moyes’ line-ups and substitutions this season, meaning the Scot tends to start the same players and make similar changes in matches.

But a recent statistic showed that Everton’s substitutes are not impacting matches. The Toffees were the only side in the top flight yet to have a substitute register a goal involvement off the bench.

Tyler Dibling, Beto and Charly Alcaraz are three players that Moyes often turns to on his bench, but they have so far struggled to have much impact off the bench.

It begs the question whether or not Moyes should be changing his in-game management style with very little success from his substitutes so far this season.

Everton need more attacking depth

It is no secret that Everton want to sign a striker in 2026 to add more goals and firepower to Moyes’ side.

What position do Everton need to strengthen in most, right-back or striker?

Everton target Vitinho.

Thierno Barry has scored one goal in 16 appearances this season, while Beto has two in all competitions.

Everton finally have a pool of creative midfielders to play behind a centre-forward, but a lethal finisher feels like the missing puzzle piece in Moyes’ side.

When the Toffees find themselves trailing in matches, Moyes’ changes are clearly not having an impact, and adding more attacking options will be a priority in 2026.
