Rangers are leading Everton in the race to sign Michy Batshuayi this January with the Toffees wanting a loan deal.

It’s been well known that this window will almost certainly consist of mainly loan moves. This is a result of Everton‘s financial woes this season to date.

A 10-point deduction seemed as bad as things could get, but now concerns are brewing that this coming Monday could bring further sanctions.

Therefore in order to avoid tempting fate, Everton are solely targeting loan moves this month which could see Sean Dyche struggle to get top targets.

Now, it appears they’ve been overtaken in the race to sign yet another of their targets this window as Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are believed to be ‘leading the race’ for Michy Batshuayi.

Rangers leading Everton and others for Michy Batshuayi

According to The Scottish Sun, while Rangers are leading the race to sign the Belgian international, Everton could throw a spanner in the works late on.

Everton holds a loan interest in Batshuayi and this could end up with the Merseyside club stealing Batshuayi from Rangers.

Currently in Turkey playing for Super Lig side Fenerbahce, the ‘quality‘ striker could be set for a move back to the UK.

He previously spent spells in England with both Chelsea and Crystal Palace while also playing for Borussia Dortmund and Marseille.

He is a player who has never quite lived up to the £33m fee Chelsea paid for him in 2016, however, perhaps Dyche could be the man to get him to the level he’s capable of.

Everton have Batshuayi alternatives

Batshuayi was first linked earlier this week, with a £3m bid mentioned which could see him arrive as a very cheap option to supplement the current strikers.

But with both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto struggling to find the net this season a proper first-choice replacement could be in order.

This has seen Boulaye Dia linked to Goodison Park with a £17m deal required to complete that move.

However, is brought in this month will have a huge job on their hands of revitalising the Everton front-line for Sean Dyche.
