Everton fans got to sit back and watch former boss Carlo Ancelotti in action on Wednesday night, as his Real Madrid side took on Liverpool at Anfield.
It didn’t quite go to plan for Carlo Ancelotti on his return to Merseyside, as Liverpool ran out 2-0 winners in the Champions League.
Ancelotti sparked a reaction from Everton fans after admitting he’s an Evertonian at heart and that he follows all their games still, despite being based in Spain.
“Of course I follow Everton. I follow the club, I follow the results. Call me tomorrow after the game and I will talk to you about this.”
However, for someone who loves Everton so dearly, it’s hard to imagine why Ancelotti would want to steal our best player in the form of Jarrad Branthwaite.
Regardless, it was the Real Madrid fans who were mentioning Ancelotti and Everton in the same sentence after their side’s clash with Liverpool.
Carlo Ancelotti’s dream for Everton and the new stadium
Interestingly, Ancelotti spoke about the dream for Everton and their new stadium when he was still in charge at Goodison Park, and even said he’d like to be the man in charge.
“I think I see Everton at the top of the table, fighting for some title. Competitive in Europe, in a new stadium, with all the crowd that sing my song. This is the dream, no?”

Now, it remains to be seen as to whether the Friedkin Group would want to go down the route of a former manager in Ancelotti.
But, one thing that the Italian boss will achieve is bums on seats at the new stadium, as it doesn’t get much bigger than him, so with the Friedkin Group being businessmen, you can’t rule it out.
It seems as if Real Madrid fans would be happy to hand Ancelotti back to Everton judging by their reactions on social media on Wednesday night.
Real Madrid fans take aim at Everton after the Liverpool loss
These Real Madrid fans, when speaking on X, all said similar things about Carlo Ancelotti and Everton.
“Ancelotti believes he is at Everton. Everything has seemed fine to him.”, @clubsiglodeoro said.
@jalessandro8 wasn’t happy: “Ancelotti must be fired, he is thought to be at Everton playing defense.”
@VlogMadridista stated: “It’s very difficult to get into the top 8. You have to get into the top 24.” Someone please explain to Ancelotti that this is Real Madrid, not Everton.”
@BSilochi mentioned: “Well, maybe it’s Ancelotti’s fault that he sees Mbappé doing nothing and doesn’t change him; maybe it’s Ancelotti’s fault that he sees Modric not contributing anything in these games and puts him in. Maybe it’s Ancelotti’s fault that the team plays like Everton, closed in at the back and without ideas, maybe eh.”
“Someone remind Ancelotti that he is not at Everton, that he is coaching Real Madrid, that if he wants to play like a small team, he should go back to Everton.”, @TsubasaMisaki11 was ruthless.
@Moru84_cb commented: “Ancelotti should be sacked today. We seem like a small team. Everyone is at the back. He has returned to Liverpool and believed that it was the derby and that he was still at Everton.”
