Carlo Ancelotti makes Everton admission in his Liverpool vs Real Madrid press conference

Carlo Ancelotti is back on Merseyside as his Real Madrid side are set to face Liverpool in the Champions League, and he’s made an Everton admission.

Carlo Ancelotti swapped Everton for Real Madrid back in June of 2021.

During his time at Goodison Park he guided the Toffees to respective 12th and 10th-placed finishes.

He’s come on leaps and bounds since leaving Everton, going on to on to win two Champions League trophies, as well as a number of other honours, including the UEFA Super Cup.

Interestingly, he’s been speaking in his press conference ahead of Liverpool vs Real Madrid, and couldn’t help but say a few things about Everton.

Carlo Ancelotti makes Everton admission

Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid in the summer and could even be replaced by Xabi Alonso.

This could provide an opportunity for Ancelotti to return to Everton, though it seems unlikely.

After all, he even spoke about the dream for the Toffees in the new stadium during his time in charge and how they’ll be challenging for silverware.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of Liverpool vs Real Madrid, it seems as if he still has a lot of love for Everton as he admits he’s still an Evertonian.

He also said this.

“Of course I follow Everton. I follow the club, I follow the results. Call me tomorrow after the game and I will talk to you about this.”

Everton on the hunt for a new manager in the summer

The Friedkin Group have already admitted that they’re set to name a new manager for the summer in line with the opening of the new stadium.

Carlo Ancelotti knows Merseyside, and he’s arguably one of the greatest managers in world football right now, so he could fit the Hollywood mould that the new owners are looking for.

However, there may be reservations from some fans about him returning given his previous time at the club and the way he jumped ship.

Plus, he’s not exactly an up-and-coming manager and Ancelotti has already spoken about how he likes similar systems to Sean Dyche, so perhaps it’s a no-go.
