Everton weren’t at the races as Chelsea defeated David Moyes’ side 1-0.
Nicholas Jackson was the difference-maker after he capitilised on Beto not being strong enough for Everton.
It was a disappointing afternoon for the Toffees who just couldn’t match Enzo Maresca’s side as fans will be wanting next season as soon as possible.
Tim Sherwood criticised Jordan Pickford for Jackson’s goal, despite the keeper being probably the only positive spark for Moyes.
However, a decision made by Chris Kavanagh in the first half was spotted which could’ve changed the outcome.

Chris Kavanagh told he made major error in Chelsea vs Everton
A very frustrating afternoon for Everton who have let results slump in recent weeks after such a positive start.
It’s now two games without a goal as Moyes will be keen to address the striker situation in the summer.
Chris Sutton thought Beto would be a ‘threat’ but Chelsea made easy work of keeping the striker quiet.
Well despite the performance another refereeing error has gone against the Toffees.
Vitaliy Mykolenko collided with Robert Sanchez in the first half in a connection that could be heard loudly.
At what looked like a 50/50, Richard Keys spoke on X and suggested it had to be a penalty in a supposed howler from Kavanagh.
“That’s got to be a pen,” Keys said.
“The keeper did not have possession there – he’d already spilled the ball.”

Everton can’t use referee excuse this time vs Chelsea
Although it was a brutal collison from both players, it didn’t seem like it was a blatant mistake.
Sanchez went for the ball, and although he spilled it the decision looked fair in the end.
The more concerning prospect was Everton’s performance, as Moyes will be doubling down on getting recruitment in the transfer window.
| Everton’s statistics in 1-0 defeat to Chelsea | |
| Possession % | 46% |
| Big chances/missed | 2/2 |
| Expected goals (xG) | 0.52 |
| xG set play | 0.03 |
| Final third passes % | 42 (54%) |
Moyes has suggested he can’t trust Nathan Patterson but after that loss it might be clear he’s added a few more names to his hit list.
It’s frustrating but the Toffees have still achieved their goal this season, and now Moyes needs to be ruthless this summer.
