Everton are for once settled with their manager and backroom staff at the club, but former employers will seek new ventures.

David Moyes is flying at Everton, and it looks quite difficult to stop this Toffees side at the moment.

Brentford put a slight roadblock on Moyes’ form with a 1-1 draw, but Jake O’Brien grabbed his first goal for the club after his brilliant turnaround.

O’Brien promised ‘more to come’ at Everton as Moyes has got the best out of the defender after former Toffees boss Sean Dyche left the Irishman in the dark.

Dyche seems to be enjoying his time off, but a former Everton coach has been tipped to throw his hat in the ring for a job.

Former Everton coach Ashley Cole tipped for vacant Rangers job

Like Everton, Rangers have sacked their manager this season, Phillipe Clement.

This has brought speculation about Moyes’ predecessor taking the role, but Rangers fans are worried about Dyche’s appointment.

You’d be sure Evertonians would agree, but another suggestion has come up in Ashley Cole.

The decorated former England international coached Everton under Frank Lampard’s tenure, and Chelsea teammate Joe Cole has tipped the ex-Arsenal left-back for the Gers job.

Speaking to The Dressing Room podcast, Cole said: “He’s our guy, Ashley Cole. I’m going to throw him in.

“I know he’s got a great job working with the England Under-21s, but Rangers had such a great spell with Stevie G, another ex-England legend, and I can see Coley going into that job.

“The dedication… his dedication to football. We love him. But that would be perfect for him.”

It wasn’t the best time to show his credentials at Everton, but Cole and Lampard together didn’t really kick on at Goodison Park.

The former Toffees boss did have an eye for talent, as Lampard wanted Gyokeres at Everton, but the performances on the pitch just weren’t good enough.

In terms of Cole though, he clearly does have what it takes to be a coach, having done a great job with the England U21 squad.

But the former left-back spoke out on his struggles on Merseyside, saying it’s made him a better coach.

“I learnt a lot that I probably can’t mention to you, to be honest,’ Cole said to MailOnline.

“But I think it’s put me in good stead. It’s certainly not put me off.

“It’s certainly made me very aware of how tough the job is and how tough managers have it, in terms of the Premier League.”

Dyche also found this out the hard way after his first real failure in his managerial career at Everton, but now he and Cole could be set to battle it out for the vacancy at Rangers.
