Everton host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park this evening in what’s expected to be a lively atmosphere on David Moyes’ return to the club.
Moyes is back at Everton on a two-and-a-half-year deal and has made his ambition clear this season; to stay up at all costs.
Moyes spoke about the style of play he plans to implement in Monday’s press conference and noted that for now, he will just try to get as many wins as possible before building on his philosophy in the summer.
So it very much sounds like Everton could continue to play in a defensive set-up but perhaps with a bit more emphasis to get their creative players on the ball.
Moyes admitted he hopes to spend a bit of money this month and it seems a deal to sign Ernest Nuamah is being worked on.
As well as the Lyon wide player, there have been some links to an in-form striker and now there’s an update on that rumour.

Everton in hunt to sign Tom Cannon
There’s been a number of differing reports about whether Everton are actually in the race to sign Leicester City forward Tom Cannon.
The Foxes have just recalled the 2003-born after his prolific six-month spell with Stoke City and there has been talk of the Toffees looking at a deal to bring him back to Goodison.
Everton’s interest in Cannon was rubbished earlier today but now reliable journalist Sami Mokbel, chief reporter of the Daily Mail, has just named the Merseysiders as a potential suitor.
Mokbel claims Everton are ‘in the hunt’ for Cannon’s signature this month, with Sunderland and Sheffield United both circling.
But again, there has been a follow-up report from Alan Myers, another reliable reporter, stating otherwise.
Alan Myers has contrasting Cannon information
More information on Everton’s interest in Cannon has come to light and this time it’s from Sky Sports’ Alan Myers.
Myers took to X late on Wednesday afternoon to deny the rumours about the Leicester man, so it’s a game of which source to believe at this stage.
It would make little sense for Everton to splash north of £10m on his signature, having let him go for £7.5m during the summer of 2023.
Whilst there is promise there, Cannon is hardly an established goalscorer at the elite level and the Merseysiders can’t really afford to take a gamble this window.
