Everton sacked Sean Dyche at the start of the year, which was a decision that was questioned by many pundits at the time.

Alan Shearer wasn’t convinced by the decision to replace Dyche with David Moyes, nor were Paul Merson and Theo Walcott.

But, the Friedkin Group’s decision has been vindicated as Everton have already secured safety with five games to spare.

Meanwhile, Sean Dyche has been out of work for three months and is being linked with a plethora of jobs across the Premier League and EFL.

Now, a recent report has claimed that the former Everton boss is a ‘frontrunner’ to join a Championship club.

Sean Dyche ‘frontrunner’ to join West Bromwich Albion

Dyche has been linked with the Leicester job lately following Ruud van Nistelrooy’s disastrous spell in charge.

Rangers have been mooted as a potential destination for Dyche, too, but it’s now emerged that he could step down to the Championship.

According to Birmingham World journalist Kurt Leyland, the 53-year-old is a ‘frontrunner’ to become the new West Bromwich Albion boss.

Albion sacked Tony Mowbray on Easter Monday following their shock 3-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Derby County.

And, they’ve moved quickly to draw up a three-man shortlist, which includes Gary O’Neil and Steve Cooper, too.

Dyche may wait for another Premier League job

When Burnley sacked Dyche in April 2022, he was patient in finding his next job and decided to wait for a Premier League opportunity.

He was out of work for over eight months until Everton appointed him the following January after Frank Lampard’s departure.

So, it wouldn’t at all be surprising if Dyche turns down the chance to become West Brom manager, or any Championship club, for that matter.

Inevitably, as football goes, there will be a top-flight club next season who are looking for a new manager to steer them away from relegation.

And, you’d imagine Dyche’s name would crop up in those conversations.
