Gary Lineker and Micah Richards explain why Everton fans should be ‘cheerful’ after 0-0 draw vs West Ham

Jordan Pickford’s heroics earned Everton a point against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees needed a reaction after their embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Southampton last weekend and they certainly put in a battling display.

Though, Everton fans still want Sean Dyche to be sacked as they’re still languishing towards the relegation zone heading into the international break.

Dyche has received backlash for playing Iliman Ndiaye on the left instead of allowing him to operate in behind the striker – which is his best position.

Some Everton fans want David Moyes to replace Dyche until the end of the season and that’s the Friedkin Group’s plan if things get any worse.

But, despite the air of negativity surrounding Everton at the moment, Gary Lineker and Micah Richards believe there are reasons to be cheerful.

Gary Lineker and Micah Richards explain why Everton fans should be cheerful

It wasn’t the greatest result for Everton on Saturday and they remain in 16th place, four points above the relegation zone.

But, speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day programme, Gary Lineker and Micah Richards outlined why fans should remain positive.

“They (Everton) are doing alright,” Richards explained.

“I mean, since the start of last season, only Raya has kept more clean sheets than Pickford. So, if you are looking at a solid base, they have got that.

“They need to do a little bit better up the field now. Takeover to come as well. New stadium. It’s looking okay.”

“Reasons to be cheerful,” Lineker added.

Everton should replace Sean Dyche

Whilst there’s evidently a lot to be positive about, it’s evident that they’re underperforming on the pitch, so perhaps it’s time for Dyche to move on.

Fans are becoming tired of the pragmatic style of play and his team selections are beginning to infuriate, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin starting over Beto.

Calvert-Lewin looks completely bereft of confidence and Beto has made far more of an impact in the little time he’s had on the pitch.

So, it seems a change in the dugout is needed and the international break gives club chiefs enough time to find a suitable successor.
