Supercomputer issues fresh prediction on where Everton will finish after beating Crystal Palace

Everton returned to winning ways on the weekend as they defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

After a run of three games without a win, Everton managed to come back from a goal down to beat Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

David Moyes’ side had to be resilient, as Palace were the aggressors for most of the game, but the Hill Dickinson Stadium produced a vociferous atmosphere to take the game away from the visitors in the final 15 minutes.

Victory moves the Toffees up to eighth in the Premier League table, and now Opta’s supercomputer has just given a fresh prediction on where they’ll finish.

Supercomputer predicts where Everton will finish after beating Crystal Palace

At the start of the season, the supercomputer predicted Everton to finish 13th in the Premier League table.

Now, after a fairly sporadic start, having won three, drawn two and lost two, Opta has made a fresh prediction.

The software expects Moyes’ side to finish in 11th on 51 points, so they’ll be about six points short of their European goal.

That would be considered an underwhelming season for Everton, as Moyes has made it clear he wants to qualify for Europe, which would require an eighth-placed finish at the very least.

Everton should be a lot stronger after the international break

The international break has actually come at a decent time for Everton, as Jack Grealish and Michael Keane have injury issues at the moment.

That’ll give them a much-needed two-week break to recover, and when the Manchester City game swings around later this month, Jarrad Branthwaite and Merlin Rohl should be back in the squad, too.

So Moyes will have an even stronger squad at his disposal going forward, with tough games against Man City, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland on the horizon.

The big dilemma that’s probably the difference between a mid-table finish and qualifying for Europe is a goalscorer.

Beto and Thierno Barry really need to kick on now if the Toffees are to realise those aspirations.
