There was joy for former Everton midfielder Lee Carsley last night, as he guided the England U21s to European Championship glory for the second time.
England’s Young Lions beat Germany out in Bratislava, winning the game 3-2 after it went to extra-time.
Two Everton transfer targets scored for England.
Harvey Elliott was linked with Everton on Saturday morning, and opened the scoring for England.
Omari Hutchinson, linked with Everton earlier this week, then made it two, and England appeared to be cruising.
But Germany pulled one back just before half-time, and then got back level through Paul Nebel.
But England showed heart and desire to not let that setback affect them, and Jonathan Rowe popped up in the 92nd minute to score England’s third.
England held out for the win, and Lee Carsley is now a two-time winner of this competition, having triumphed in 2023.
And his latest achievement has got some Everton fans talking on social media.
Everton fans think Lee Carsley should be considered to succeed David Moyes some day

Carsley has done an outstanding job as manager of the U21s.
The 51-year-old is coming in for all kinds of plaudits now and rightly so, as he is preparing the next generation of talent that can hopefully make the step up to the senior side, which has continued to come up short.
Carsley’s stock has now soared and inevitably, there is talk about him potentially moving on from his current post.
Thomas Tuchel is an unpopular appointment for the seniors and some feel Carsley should replace the German. Some even think he should have just been named Gareth Southgate’s successor in the first place.
He may well eventually get the job, but some Everton fans feel he should actually be considered to succeed Moyes some day.
@TomFox87: “Would have no problem with him being the guy after Moyes. Obviously that won’t happen for at least 2 years, but should be considered.”
@AndyJudge: “Lee Carsley. What an achievement back to back Euros. Hope TFG and Everton are looking at this. Bring him in to support Moyes as a coach and then to take over in two years.”
@JordConnor: “Carsley in after Moyes please @Everton.”
@fpl_wilko: “Future manager surely.”
@Paul19775136: “Carsley is one of the candidates I wanted for the Everton manager. I think he’s got it all and likes to bring young talent through.
@Junsy_EFC: “Moyes moves upstairs as a CEO, director of football or retires then Carsley comes in a few years.”
Carsley should at least be on Everton’s radar
It is brilliant to see Carsley receiving his flowers after England’s Euro triumph.
There is no doubt that he is a fantastic coach, and the idea of him returning to Everton to manage the club one day is very interesting to consider. Some Everton fans even wanted Carsley to replace Sean Dyche when he left the club.
He is clearly proven when it comes to developing young talents.
And that is one thing that is on the agenda at the Hill Dickinson Stadium under The Friedkin Group.

Club management is obviously a different kettle of fish. But perhaps Carsley would fancy giving it a go one day.
It was claimed that Carsley may have come in as Moyes’ assistant when the Scot was appointed back in January. But arguably, Carsley has too much to offer now to be a mere number two.
But of course, this is simply not something that is likely to happen any time soon, with Moyes in place and going nowhere after doing such a fine job since returning.
