Everton fans were treated to another dazzling Carlos Alcaraz display.
A dismal start to the 2024/25 campaign had been put in the past following the appointment of David Moyes in January.
It has been an emotional few weeks for Everton who bid farewell to Goodison Park just over one week ago.
Alan Shearer was impressed by Jordan Pickford’s display against Newcastle United on Sunday, but it was Alcaraz who scored the only goal of the game.
A big decision awaits Everton when it comes to the future of the Argentine who only joined on a short-term loan.
Everton can buy Alcaraz for around £15m this summer with their option to buy in the agreement with Flamengo.
Fans would love to see that happen, but there is a strong demand for the midfielder to cut one thing out of his game.

Everton fans want Carlos Alcaraz to stop doing one thing
Beto praised Alcaraz just the other week after the Argentine provided him an assist against Ipswich Town.
A decision is going to be required from Everton after the midfielder did not play enough games to make his stay obligatory on Merseyside.
Taking to social media after the game, it was apparent Everton fans want Alcaraz to stay, but they also want to see him stop doing the Cristiano Ronaldo celebration.
One fan took to social media to say: ‘Love Alcaraz but can he please stop doing the Ronaldo celebration hahahahahaha’. Whilst another replied: ‘Yeah that does my head in as well quality player though’.
However, some fans were just pleased he scored, one said: ‘As long as he scores mate haha’. With another fan also, saying: ‘Probably his hero growing up.’
Alcaraz wants to stay at Everton, and it is fair to say he has done all he can to convince the powers that be to make his stay permanent.
Clearly, not all fans are a fan of the celebration, with one fan adding: ‘Kopite behaviour’. And another likened Alcaraz to Tim Cahill by saying: ‘The corner post is waiting our attacking midfield back’.
Everton fans sang Alcaraz’s name against Fulham the other week and will surely be gutted if he does return to Flamengo.
Alcaraz shines against Newcastle United
Moyes has been really impressed by Alcaraz in recent weeks, with the midfielder playing an increased role in the starting XI.
After the game, Moyes admitted he was pleased with Alcaraz, but fans will have to wait and see whether they decide to keep him.
“He scored a good goal and did a lot of good things for us today… he did well,” he said in his post-match press conference.
“Well, you’ll need to wait and see like everybody else,” Moyes responded when asked whether Everton will sign Alcaraz.
It was another dazzling display from the Argentine who proved a constant threat for the Newcastle defenders.
- 76 minutes played
- 1 goal
- 100% pass accuracy
- 1x was fouled
- 1 interception
- 1 shot blocked
A big decision awaits those at Finch Farm.
