Everton’s season completely fell away from the March international break.

Everton’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur meant they picked up just three points from a possible 21 to end the campaign.

That’s led many Toffees fans to turn on David Moyes, with some urging the club to appoint Andoni Iraola.

How do you even sum up that performance? 😡

Speaking after the Spurs game, Moyes bizarrely said he doesn’t understand the fan frustration and also made a comment which shows he’s trying to lower the expectations.

David Moyes makes relegation reference after Everton vs Tottenham

Moyes has once again made reference to the fact that avoiding relegation is a benchmark for success at Everton.

The Scotsman immediately made the suggestion that the club should be grateful that they weren’t in Spurs’ position yesterday.

“We know what it feels like (to be fighting for our lives),” Moyes stated.

“We know what the crowd can do. We had it at Goodison over recent years. Tottenham’s crowd helped them along greatly.

“Their players were fully pumped for the game. We were resilient. We didn’t play well in the first half, especially. We gave away a lot of free-kicks and corner-kicks and that made it difficult and eventually they scored from one.

“It’s disappointing because that’s the two games we lost to Spurs this season on corner-kicks, so it’s not good from our point of view.”

That was a disgraceful performance from Everton… something has to change! 😤

Supporters have seen straight through Moyes’ comments, even if they were somewhat cryptic, and aren’t standing for the mediocre standards being set.

The fact that newly-promoted Sunderland have finished in seventh place and qualified for Europe hasn’t helped Moyes’ case at all.

Bournemouth and Brentford are other examples that big strides can be made by integrating younger players.

Moyes’ refusal to play some of the talented youngsters has clearly held the club back, as the ageing squad has struggled to cope at the back end of the campaign.
