Everton’s draw against Manchester City did come at a cost on Boxing Day with one of their top players coming off through injury.
The Friedkin Group’s arrival has seen two impressive draws against Chelsea and Man City over the last two games.
The two points have provided a lot more optimism for things to come on Merseyside, but they have not exactly dragged Everton out of danger.

Jordan Pickford’s penalty save against Erling Haaland proved a huge moment in the game, but he was not the only hero on Thursday.
Iliman Ndiaye scored the equalising goal before being withdrawn from the game with a potential injury concern.
There has now been an injury update provided on the Senegal international ahead of the upcoming game against Nottingham Forest.

Iliman Ndiaye injury update from Everton
It was an impressive display from the forward with Paul Robinson saying Ndiaye is good enough to play for Man City after what he saw.
Ndiaye has impressed since arriving at the club over the summer and the showing at the Etihad was synonymous of that.
But with withdrawal will be a major concern to many with Everton already losing Dwight McNeil to injury prior to the draw against Arsenal.
Taking to social media, one Everton insider shared a positive update on Ndiaye suggesting his injury was not too serious.
‘Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye was substituted during the club’s 1-1 draw at Manchester City with tightness in his calf,’ he said.
‘The tightness is deemed as nothing serious ahead of Sunday’s clash against Nottingham Forest.’
Despite Everton losing emphatically, even Manchester United fans were impressed by Ndiaye earlier this month at Old Trafford.
The summer signing has proven to be a really important figure to Everton’s limited success this season and losing him would mark a real blow.
What Sean Dyche said about Ndiaye’s injury
Having drawn Everton level in the first half, Ndiaye was not removed from the game until the 81st minute at the Etihad.
Ndiaye has been impressed by Everton fans and they have certainly enjoyed what they have seen from their dazzling winger.
And speaking after the game, Dyche shared his own assessment of Ndiaye’s injury issue picked up against the champions.
“We only took him off because – well hopefully he’s not too seriously – injured,” he said.
“He had a tight calf so we had to be careful of that.”
