Everton have some huge months ahead of them both on and off the pitch with the current international break allowing them to take stock.

Sean Dyche‘s side have not exactly made the start to the season which they will have hoped for as they remain slumped around the bottom three.

Recent results have provided Everton fans with some further hope with a win over Crystal Palace and draw against Newcastle United putting some points on the board.

The Toffees have been able to climb off the foot of the table and sit in 16^th spot but there is still a long way to go before Everton are where they want to be.

However, there is cause for optimism at Goodison Park with The Friedkin Group closing in on their proposed takeover of Everton.

And with that will come a fresh lease of hope with an expectation for potential new ownership to invest in the side they take on.

Dan Friedkin must avoid making Dominic Calvert-Lewin mistake

It has been claimed by TBR Football that Everton still feel Dominic Calvert-Lewin still has a lot to offer on Merseyside.

This comes with the striker playing into the final year of his deal at Everton with attempts to offer him a new deal at Goodison.

And there is now a growing belief that the former England striker could perform a U-turn and ink a new contract ahead of the summer.

But this is a big decision which Everton really need to ask themselves whether it is the right call for their long-term future.

The 27-year-old has been far from productive in recent years with his last double digit return in the Premier League coming back in the 2020/21 season.

Injuries have been a major issue for the previously dubbed ‘outstanding‘ striker but that is something which Everton need to take into consideration.

The defence has been the biggest issue for Everton this season, so far, but surely Everton fans will want to see Calvert-Lewin upgraded considering he’s only scored 14 times in his last three full league campaigns.

There was interest from a number of Premier League clubs with the likes of Chelsea keen on landing Calvert-Lewin over the summer.

And Everton were showing interest in signing a new striker with the likes of Tammy Abraham on their radar before landing Armando Broja.

But with The Friedkin Group looking to get in on Merseyside before the January transfer window, a new striker should be one of their top priorities.

Having been slumped around the bottom of the table for a number of years now, Everton need a reliable striker who is capable of providing them double digit returns.
