Everton have a number of players at the club who could find themselves seeking a new opportunity in the January transfer window.

The Toffees have finally seen new owners arrive on Merseyside, but there is a lot of work needing to be done this month.

With Sean Dyche’s side sitting narrowly above the relegation zone, Everton could do with some winter upgrades in the market.

The Friedkin Group are prioritising a new midfielder and forward in the January transfer window for Everton as they seek improvement.

However, January could also mark a month of departures from Goodison Park with numerous players’ future remaining uncertain

Everton decide against Jake O’Brien exit

A number of players could be heading for the exit this month, with Everton open to selling Beto in the January window.

The striker joined in 2023, but a player who was only signed last summer is also seeing his future at the club heavily speculated.

According to the Daily Mail, Everton have now made the decision against offloading Jake O’Brien this month despite interest from the continent.

Since signing, the Ireland international has struggled to earn himself regular minutes under Dyche in the starting XI.

Dyche has been impressed by O’Brien behind-the-scenes at Everton, but that has failed to translate into minutes on the pitch.

And given the Toffees have been able to keep the second-most clean sheets in the Premier League this season, it is clear Dyche is keen to keep a regular backline.

Sean Dyche was open to letting O’Brien go

The decision from the top has been made with the report claiming Everton want to keep their defensive depth at the club this month.

But that may not have been the case if the manager had his way as it has been suggested Dyche was willing to offload O’Brien this month.

Considering Everton spent around £16m on the 23-year-old, it has been a big surprise not to see him feature more than just two substitute appearances in the league.

Jordan Pickford has hailed O’Brien a ‘beast’ from what he has seen in training at Finch Farm.

But there may be none more surprised than the defender himself to see his career put on pause following the move to the Premier League.
